Bound Success Stories: School Support
Taking It Off Their Plate: How Blue Valley Northwest Leans on Bound’s School Support
"I guarantee you their customer support isn’t as good as Bound’s customer support. I’ll keep beating that drum."
Michael Richards | Blue Valley Northwest Athletic Director
Triple platform triage.
Asked what’s been most impactful about Bound, Michael Richards doesn’t name a feature. Athletic Director at Blue Valley Northwest in Overland Park, Kansas, now in his third year and second full year on Bound, he points to support — the chat button, the help PDFs, the responsiveness.
The reason is practical. Before Bound, Blue Valley Northwest ran on a platform that worked well enough for an athletic director who knew it, but was difficult for everyone outside the office. Parents struggled with uploading physicals, signing forms, and the mechanics of registration. Because ticketing lived with a separate vendor, families routinely showed up at the wrong login, and the athletic office had to triage which system they were in before helping. That triage was Michael’s job, and it consumed time he didn’t have.

Bound handles that layer now. When a parent is missing a signature on page four of a physical, Michael’s team attaches a Bound help PDF to the email rather than walking the family through it themselves. When someone is stuck, they’re pointed to the green B in the corner of the screen — and almost nobody comes back saying it didn’t help.
“I was able to trust other people in our school — our secretaries, our other administrators — to do things in Bound and not mess it up, because it was so easy.”
The effect reaches his staff as well. Blue Valley Northwest has had two admin assistants on Bound, and both picked it up quickly. With one system instead of several, they aren’t learning multiple platforms or teaching families to navigate them. Michael frames that as a retention issue: classified-position turnover is high, and a job that’s less stressful is a job people stay in longer.
The support showed up well before the contract. Pete and Aaron drove from Iowa to the Kansas City metro repeatedly during evaluation, answered a backlog of questions patiently, handed out personal phone numbers, and at one point sat down with Michael at a conference to build a schedule on the spot.

Bound has helped Michael...
Absorb Support
By giving families direct access to help through chat and guided PDFs, Bound has taken registration troubleshooting off the athletic office and handled it on their behalf.
Answer Questions
By putting registration, ticketing, passes, and scheduling in one place, Bound has eliminated the routing conversations that used to start every parent interaction.
Keep Staff Happy
By making the platform easy enough for admin assistants to learn fast and operate confidently, Bound has reduced the stress of a high-turnover role — and given Michael reason to expect people stay longer.
