Effortless Entry, Community Convenience: Johnston High (IA) Streamlines Ticketing with Bound

When Heather Semelmacher became Activities Director at Johnston High School, she quickly saw opportunities to improve the event entry experience for both staff and the community. Other ticketing services she’d used in the past made scanning cumbersome. If someone bought eight tickets, you had to scan each one individually, then Bound offered a better way.

“What makes Bound so easy is you can just scan the QR at the door, and it brings you right to the Johnston site to buy your ticket,” Heather said. “[We have] several thousand that come through the door, it's thousands and thousands of people that come through. We just do a one ticketing sale for that, which is great.”

With thousands of fans coming through the gates each year, the time saved at entry adds up, creating a smoother experience for everyone involved.

Johnston’s large-scale events brought unique challenges; morning, afternoon, all-day, and even weekend passes needed to be handled seamlessly. This was a new ticketing scenario for Bound to tackle, but Heather says the team jumped in immediately to make it work.

“This was definitely something new for Bound to tackle, but they worked through it with us… they jump on it, know what we're dealing with, and fix it right away. It's just great to have that person on call.”

For Heather, the difference goes beyond the software. Bound’s support team understands the pressures of the AD role, especially when something goes wrong on a Friday night. 

“They’re not like, ‘Calm down, it’ll be fine.’ They’re like, ‘We got you, give us five minutes.’ They get what’s going on, and they fix it right away.”
