Randy Tevepaugh, CMAA

Tevepaugh arrived at Streetsboro with a clear understanding that a successful athletic department must be built on more than victories and championships. It must provide safe facilities, establish consistent expectations, support coaches, develop students and strengthen the connection between the school and its community.


That philosophy has guided his leadership for more than a decade.

Among Tevepaugh’s most visible accomplishments was his role in creating and implementing a comprehensive plan to transform Streetsboro’s aging athletic facilities. He assisted with the design and supervised the construction of a $4.5 million athletic complex, completed in 2017. The project provided Streetsboro’s students, coaches and community with facilities that reflected the district’s commitment to excellence.

However, Tevepaugh’s greatest contributions cannot be measured only in concrete, turf or stadium improvements. His lasting impact is found in the culture, professional standards and opportunities he has helped establish.

During his tenure, Tevepaugh has developed athletic and coaching handbooks, helped create the Streetsboro Athletic Hall of Fame and overseen more than 75 Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament events. Under his leadership, the Streetsboro athletic department received the OHSAA/OIAAA Award of Excellence in 2015, recognizing the district’s commitment to operating a comprehensive, education-based athletic program.

His leadership has also been instrumental during challenging moments. When financial pressures created uncertainty surrounding Streetsboro’s junior varsity programs, Tevepaugh remained committed to protecting opportunities for students. Following the restoration of those programs in 2026, the district returned him to a full-time role—reflecting the importance of experienced athletic leadership in delivering a positive and developmentally appropriate student experience.


Tevepaugh’s influence extends well beyond Streetsboro.


He has served on the OHSAA Board of Directors since 2024 and has provided leadership through the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and the Northeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. His service has allowed him to advocate for athletic administrators, strengthen professional standards and advance education-based athletics throughout Ohio.
One of his most significant statewide contributions has been his work with the Bruce Brown Award of Excellence. Through Tevepaugh’s leadership, the program expanded from recognizing 26 schools to honoring 104 recipients in just three years. That growth provided more Ohio schools with an opportunity to evaluate their programs, celebrate areas of excellence and identify meaningful opportunities for improvement.

Nationally, Tevepaugh has established himself as a respected voice in athletic administration. A Certified Master Athletic Administrator, he serves the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as chair of the Quality Program Assessment Committee. He has also served as a Leadership Training Institute instructor, mentor and cohort facilitator.

In each of those roles, Tevepaugh has demonstrated a willingness to share his experience with others. His commitment to professional development has helped both aspiring and veteran athletic administrators improve their leadership, strengthen their programs and better serve their student-athletes.

His contributions have resulted in numerous professional honors, including the Bruce Brown Award of Excellence, the NIAAA Quality Program Assessment Exemplary Award of Excellence and multiple administrator-of-the-year recognitions. In December 2025, Tevepaugh received an NFHS Citation—one of the most prestigious honors presented to an athletic administrator. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to interscholastic athletics at the local, state and national levels.

While those honors illustrate the reach of his professional influence, Tevepaugh’s commitment to serving others is equally evident outside athletic administration.

He has been a strong advocate for student mental health and has supported Ohio’s Coach Beyond initiative, which helps coaches better understand their influence on the emotional well-being, personal development and overall growth of student-athletes.
Tevepaugh has also turned personal endurance into meaningful community service through his involvement with VeloSano. By completing cycling events of more than 100 miles, he has raised awareness and funding for cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. His participation reflects the same qualities that define his professional leadership: commitment, perseverance, service and a willingness to act on behalf of others.

The most influential athletic administrators understand that their responsibility extends far beyond organizing schedules, supervising events or maintaining facilities. They create environments in which students feel valued. They equip coaches to become better leaders. They establish standards that strengthen their schools, and they invest in the development of colleagues throughout the profession.
