District-Wide, Day One: How the Natrona County School District Joined Bound

Many responsibilities.

When Josh Anderson stepped into the Director of Athletics and Activities role at Natrona County School District, he inherited a lot. The second-largest school district in Wyoming, Natrona serves just under 12,000 students across dozens of buildings — all of which run through his office for facility scheduling and space management. The previous platform had accumulated a familiar set of problems: hiccups, changes, rising costs, and a product that kept declining in quality. His predecessor's team had already found Bound. Josh's job was to make it work across an organization the size of a mid-sized business.

The scope of what Bound needed to cover was significant from day one — facility reservations, schedule communication, parent and athlete messaging, Infinite Campus roster sync, maintenance coordination, and eventually transportation manifests and officials contracts. For a district that size, software fragmentation presents a real risk of derailing day-to-day operations.

Bound's onboarding process is built around that scale. In January, the training team ran a roughly hour-long Google Meet to understand exactly how Natrona's district operated and what they needed the platform to do. Communication continued through the spring. Then Bound sent two trainers in person for a full day — bringing in building admins, maintenance teams, and transportation staff to get everyone trained at once. The result was immediate buy-in. Admin teams started entering their fall varsity schedules during the training session itself.

That responsiveness carried into the post-training period. When a building principal ran into a real-world gap — a swim clinic staffed for 140 participants that drew 250 additional observers — Josh reached out to ask if Bound had a way to track observer counts separately from participants. He had a reply with step-by-step instructions in under ten minutes. The feature was already built in.
