Bound Success Stories: Ticketing

From Cash-Only to a Digital Spread: How Madison Edgewood Went Cashless with Bound

"Edgewood's been a cash only school forever. The prep is a lot easier — we're not going to the bank to get cash, and we're not going to the bank afterwards to deposit what we made at the gate that night."

Ben Voss | Edgewood High Activities Director

Replacing rSchool.

Ben Voss has spent about 20 years in Madison-area education — social studies teacher, then principal and AD at Wisconsin Heights, and now heading into his fifth year as Athletic Director at Madison Edgewood High School. For most of that run, the platform underneath him was the same one nearly every Wisconsin athletic department used. When Arbiter acquired it, that stability disappeared, and schools across the state had to decide what came next.

Edgewood moved to Bound, and the change reached further than a swap of one system for another. Edgewood had been cash-only forever — no ticketing platform at all. Registration ran through its own system. Contracts, officials, and facility scheduling each lived somewhere separate. Bound brought five or six of those functions into one package, which for an AD juggling all of them at a 600-student school has been a huge time-saver.

Athletic Director, Edgewood High School

The most immediate change was at the gate. Edgewood had been cash-only for its entire history, and the school ran its first-ever online ticketing this season. The operational relief was instant: no bank run before the game, no deposit run after it, no cash to carry while closing up. Everything itemizes automatically for the athletic office and the business office to review.

Edgewood chose the QR code version deliberately, because it works across generations — fans who want to pull the code up on a phone at the gate, and grandparents who would rather print it out. Season tickets or single games, both handled the same way. The readers themselves support scanning, swiping, and tapping, which keeps the line moving regardless of how a fan shows up.

"What you're seeing when you come to Edgewood for our home games is matching the experience at most of our Badger Conference schools."

That consistency is Ben's longer-term goal — getting all 16 conference schools onto the same platform so fans have an identical experience home or away. Meanwhile, having former athletic directors on the Bound side has made the transition easier to navigate. When Ben brings a concern, the response isn't polite acknowledgment; it's recognition from someone who has managed the same time crunch.

Go Cashless

By moving Edgewood from cash-only to online ticketing, Bound has eliminated bank runs, cash handling, and end-of-night reconciliation from every home event.

Expand Gate Options

By supporting QR codes on a phone or printed at home, plus scan, swipe, and tap at the gate, Bound has made the switch work for Edgewood's full range of fans rather than just the tech-comfortable ones.

Align a Conference

By giving the Badger Conference a shared platform, Bound has helped create a consistent ticketing experience across member schools — and a network of ADs working through the transition together.
